The Char Kohan Copper Concession is a 1,997-acre prospecting block located near Char Kohan, District Kharan, Balochistan. The block is held by M/S Rakhshan Copper Mines (Al-Malik Mines & Minerals group) under a Prospecting Licence granted by the Director General, Mines & Minerals, Balochistan (approved 28 October 2022).
Kharan sits directly on Pakistan’s copper-gold porphyry corridor — the same volcanic arc that hosts Reko Diq (approximately 200 km to the west, in Chagai) and Saindak (Chagai). Regional geology, drainage patterns and mineralised outcrops in Kharan have long attracted copper exploration, and the Balochistan government has been prioritising licence conversions and exploration approvals in this belt.
Copper is a foundational base metal for electrification, grid infrastructure, EVs and construction, and Western buyers have been actively broadening upstream supply since 2023. A prospecting-stage asset in the Chagai–Kharan porphyry belt offers exposure to a region with proven Tier-1 analogues.
Al-Malik Mines is inviting joint-venture partners, exploration financiers and technical operators to develop the block. The opportunity is open to:
- Copper smelters and concentrate traders seeking upstream exposure in a proven porphyry province.
- Mid-tier exploration companies looking to bring drilling and JORC/NI 43-101-style resource work to a licence-stage asset.
- Financial investors seeking exposure to Pakistan’s copper sector at earlier stage than Reko Diq / Saindak equity.
- Technical partners able to contribute geophysics, drilling and haulage capability during prospecting.
